How long does an order take?

Turnaround depends on the garments, the decoration and the quantity. South West Apparel confirms the turnaround with your quote, so you know the date before you commit.

Which garments can you embroider or print?

Polos, hi-vis shirts and vests, hoodies, jackets, tees, singlets, shorts, caps, beanies and aprons. South West Apparel supplies quality Australian-stocked blanks or can often decorate garments you already have.

Which industries does South West Apparel work with?

Why does in-house decoration matter?

Because South West Apparel runs its own Ricoma dual-head embroidery machine and DTF printer in South West Sydney, nothing is outsourced. The person who quotes your job also checks the stitching and the print, small runs and reorders are easy, and there is no middleman adding time or cost.

Embroidery and DTF printing

What is the difference between embroidery and DTF printing?

Embroidery stitches your logo into the fabric with thread, which suits polos, caps, jackets and hi-vis and gives a durable, premium finish. DTF (direct to film) printing heat-presses a full-colour design onto the garment, which suits tees, hoodies and detailed or photographic artwork. South West Apparel does both in house and will recommend the right one for your garment and design.

What is DTF printing?

DTF stands for direct to film. South West Apparel prints your design in full colour onto a transfer film with a white under-base, bonds adhesive powder to it and heat-presses it onto the garment. The print is thin, soft and flexible, and works on cotton, polyester and blends in any colour.

How many colours can an embroidered logo have?

The Ricoma dual-head machine at South West Apparel runs several thread colours in one design, and most business logos use only a few. Thread is matched to your brand colours from a standard polyester thread chart.

Which lasts longer, embroidery or DTF?

Both outlast normal uniform use when cared for. Embroidery is the most durable finish South West Apparel offers because the thread is stitched through the fabric. A DTF print is bonded with heat-cured adhesive and stretches with the garment, and lasts the life of a work tee when washed inside out in cold water without bleach or softener.

Can you embroider caps and beanies?

Yes. Caps and beanies are embroidered in house at South West Apparel in South West Sydney. Embroidery is the right method for a structured cap front and a knitted beanie cuff; printing does not sit well on either.

Artwork and proofs

4 answers

What artwork files do you need?

A vector file (SVG, PDF, AI or EPS) gives the cleanest result for both embroidery and DTF. A high-resolution PNG also works for DTF. If you only have a photo of your logo, send it anyway: South West Apparel will tell you what is needed before any work starts.

Can you add individual names to uniforms?

Yes. South West Apparel embroiders or prints names and titles alongside your logo, for example a name on the right chest and the logo on the left. List the names and sizes in your quote request.

Will I see a proof before you make my order?

Yes. South West Apparel sends a proof of the placement and colours for you to approve before embroidery or printing begins.

Will my reorder match the first batch?

Yes. South West Apparel keeps your digitised embroidery file and print artwork, and records the placement and thread colours for each garment, so top-ups and new starters match the original run.
